About the Artist
Mari Lydic, also known as Tallgal, is a wearable fiber artist who creates pieces that are both visually appealing and functional. Her work is meant to be worn and enjoyed in everyday life, not simply displayed on a shelf or wall.
Mari chose cork as her primary medium because it is both sustainable and renewable, qualities she values in today’s ever-changing world. Drawing on her years of experience as a textile artist, she incorporates techniques from fabric and silk dyeing, as well as quilting, a craft she has practiced for most of her life. Combining these skills allows her to assemble pieces into beautiful shapes that reflect her love of texture and design.
She believes there is great value in something handmade and not mass-produced. Each bag or wallet she creates is made with care and the hope that it will bring joy to its owner. Mari’s designs range from subtle and elegant to bright and funky, ensuring every bag is as unique as the person who carries it. When helping clients choose a piece, she always suggests selecting the one that makes them smile.
