About the Artist
Virginia Gloekler was born in Ecuador and at a very young age was taught the art of making Tagua nut jewelry by her grandmother. By the age of seven, she was creating jewelry from watermelon seeds, and the art of carving, drilling, and lacing jewelry quickly became her passion. She is especially delighted when people describe her jewelry as light and colorful. One of her goals is to one day pass on the tradition of making Tagua nut jewelry, just as her grandmother did with her.
