About the Artist
Dave and Diane’s photography – like their marriage – is a joint venture. They work together as a team – both viewing the subject matter first through each one’s own perspective and then jointly (unless it’s a “fleeting moment” – then they just try to capture the image or moment before it’s gone). When they cannot agree they just take twice as many photographs.
Diane was born in West Virginia and raised in West Virginia and western Maryland. That’s where her love of the outdoors and appreciation of nature’s beauty and God’s handiwork began. She would view the birds, animals, and surroundings with awe as she herded the cows, helped bale hay, and played in the fields and woodlands. Even at a young age nature, birds and animals fascinated her.
Dave, originally from the Pittsburgh area, and Diane moved to the Winter Haven, Florida area in 1971. Although the vistas were different here, Dave and Diane found them just as fascinating. While traveling throughout the United States and abroad for more than thirty years, Dave and Diane became avid photographers. At first it was just to help them remember, and relive, the places they visited and their experiences.
They began taking photography seriously when they got lucky with a few shots that captured the essence, rather than just the image, of where they had been – or what they had experienced. They hope their photography now brings to life for others what they’ve been fortunate to see and experience in their travels – whether in Europe or their own backyard.
When not behind a camera, Dave is a Human Resource manager/consultant; Diane can be found in a courtroom (or her law office) practicing law.
