The Space Coast Art Festival would like to extend a big thank you to the Community Foundation for Brevard for their generous grant! Founded in 1981, the Community Foundation for Brevard is a non-profit organization that aids in connecting charitable individuals with Brevard’s community. Over $40 million has been granted to impact positive changes in the county thanks to the Community Foundation and its donors.
With the help of the Community Foundation’s grant, the Space Coast Art Festival plans to give Brevard students grades K-12 the opportunity to display their art at our annual Student Art Show later this year. The art show is a special way for students to contribute to Brevard’s creative scene. Exhibiting pieces from kids across grades K-12, our annual Student Art Show caters to a diverse range of student artists. From traditional media to sculptures, each student can enter submissions reflective of their individual talent and creativity.
The Space Coast Art Festival operates at no cost to student artists and teachers to inspire a genuine and robust appreciation of the arts. Sponsors and grants play a critical role in funding festival costs such as marketing, tents, and event supplies. Thanks to the help of charitable organizations like the Community Foundation for Brevard, we are able to provide all Brevard students with a free platform to exhibit their artistic works, win awards, and be inspired to create.
Local students have voiced their thoughts on student-focused programs like the Student Art Show and their impact. Katie, a junior at Melbourne Central Catholic, states, “Giving students a chance to show their art, like in art shows or through contests, helps develop a lot of their passion and skill early on.” Katie also comments, “I’m really looking forward to this year’s art show and to entering some pieces. I think most kids really just appreciate the chance to show their work to a bigger audience that’s not just friends or family. It’s a great experience for younger artists.”
Through programs like the Student Art Show, the Space Coast Art Festival is able to give students like Katie the opportunity to create and display artwork they are proud of.
