Supporting Art in Schools

Each year, the Space Coast Art Festival awards $3500 to individual students and schools to support art education. Our program includes a T-shirt design contest and art show open to all young artists grades K-12 attending any school in Brevard County public, private, charter, religious and home-schooled. But the cash awards are not the most important way we impact student artists, we believe inspiration and motivation are key factors. Let one of the teachers involved tell the story:

” As a teacher in Brevard County for over 24 years, I am so grateful to the SCAF for supporting the arts in our community and giving all students age groups an opportunity to showcase their talents, develop creativity and promote artistic growth and expression. Our students desperately need this artistic, cultural opportunity to help grow and develop as young creative people. The SCAF is one of a very few cultural art experiences for students in our community to showcase their work in a public venue that reaches thousands of art patrons in our community. Watching students interact with the public, articulating their creative process, intention, motivation and excitement is the goal of creating art for public display. The SCAF is a true highlight of the year that impacts student artists that gather to celebrate art, enhance student creativity and showcase their hard work and talent. I credit the SCAF with promoting the visual arts and developing student confidence in our community.  Brevard County students benefit from experiences that the SCAF provides. Our students gain the experience and confidence to become our future creatives in the art and design industries. In closing, I thank the SCAF for all they do in our community to bring art not only at the professional level but especially the student level, the impact on our community and students has been significant.”
